Hello to all my friends, family and FB friends. My name is Theresa Mulhauser I am Brads Sister-in-law and friend of many years. In May 2025 Brad scheduled an appointment to see a doctor after having a persistent cough he thought was from allergies. Unfortunately after having a chest X-ray done it showed something more. The next 2 days were filled with CT scans and the kind of news no one wants to hear. Brad was diagnosed with a tumor on one of his kidneys that had metastasized to his lungs and bone. The next week Brad met with an oncologists to begin his next steps forward, however just one day later Brad was having difficulty breathing and was admitted to the hospital with fluid around his lungs. He spent several days in the hospital and his doctors made three failed attempts to get a biopsy for further diagnosis. After the third attempt Brad rapidly decompensated and was urgently taken to Vanderbilt and placed in the ICU for the following eleven days. After being released to home Brad was informed by his care team that a further diagnosis had been made of Renal Cell Carcinoma which has metastasized into his lungs and bones, resulting in a fracture of his left shoulder. Brad is receiving radiation treatments on his shoulder and immunotherapy. He has been responding very well and is having minimal side effects at this time. He will need surgery on his shoulder at a later date following his treatments. Needless to say Brad and his family’s lives have been completely turned upside down and are now having to adapt to a new normal. Brad who has served our community as an A-EMT for the past 18 years is unable to work during this time and does not know when he will be able to return to service. The entire Douglas family is extremely grateful for all that God, family and friends have provided for them thus far, however the medical bills and expenses continue to pile up. We are asking for any amount of support you are willing to give to assist them through this unexpected journey. Brad has selflessly cared for his family and community for years, let’s now come together to care for him. Thank you and God bless you all❤️
